DRC: Children risk missing out on vital vaccines

The coronavirus pandemic has raised questions about the efficacy and distribution of coronavirus vaccines, but there are ongoing challenges to delivering vaccinations for other diseases.  In a group of remote islands in the Democratic Republic of Congo, hundreds of children have been missing out on vaccinations against diseases such as measles and hepatitis.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Africa’s health correspondent Rhoda Odhiambo reports from the island. Healthcare workers from the main island Idjwi have been organising special missions to give catch-up jabs. They say a lack of hospitals and transportation, as well as inefficient networks and communications have been to blame for delays.
