Do you know the difference between the vagina and the vulva?

This week Holly McNish posted a plea on social media asking the producers of Channel 4’s Naked Attraction to use the terms vagina and vulva correctly. ‘This is not a diss, your presenter is amazing, this mistake is everywhere in our culture, but TV scripts can do a lot to help.’

She joined Emma Barnett on Woman's Hour to discuss why she feels so strongly that women’s anatomy should be described accurately on TV.

In a statement, Channel 4 said: ‘Naked Attraction uses a mix of familiar, colloquial and anatomical terms when describing the human body – expressions that many of the contributors use about their own bodies themselves. The anatomical word 'vulva' has been used often during the series, alongside many other physiological descriptions of different body parts.’
