‘The squeeze is coming from all directions’

A mum of two has spoken about her families worry of not being able to afford the rise in National Insurance contributions.

Suzanne Samaka and her husband both work full-time in a bank but are feeling the effects of the rising cost of living.

Speaking to Rick Edwards on 5 Live Breakfast she said, “We’ve always been quite conservative, we’ve always put money into savings, but the squeeze is coming from all directions.â€

Suzanne’s energy supplier went bust last year and now she is not sure if her future energy bills will need paying on a monthly or quarterly basis.

Asked if she would be able to afford the rise in National Insurance Suzanne said, “That’s questionable at the minute.

“I would argue no, generally speaking because it is coming from all angles it’s difficult to justify.â€
