'This disregard for the rules makes me very angry and depressed'

A man from Bristol who lost his father to cancer in 2020 has spoken about his anger at the findings of the Sue Gray report, into 16 events held at Downing Street during Covid restrictions.

Matt Anniss’ dad, was in the final stages of prostate cancer during the first lockdown.

Speaking to Rachel Burden on 5 Live Breakfast he said, “every day I woke up thinking am I going to see him again?â€

Matt was eventually able to see his dad, who lived more than 150 miles away, before he died, but only once lockdown rules were lifted in the summer.

He said, “there are a lot of people out there who had it worse and my heart aches for all of those.â€

Asked about the initial findings of the Gray report, Matt said, “it’s not whether they were having cheese and wine, it’s the disregard of the rules that they set for us.â€
