Must See: Skiing - Women's Combined Final

Can American Mikaela Shiffrin end her Beijing duck and get to four Olympic medals and equal Julia Mancuso’s American female skiing record?

Can American Mikaela Shiffrin end her Beijing duck and get to four Olympic medals and equal Julia Mancuso’s American female skiing record?

The American was a combined silver medallist in PyeongChang and is also the reigning world champion, and despite nothing going her way so far at these Games, she did finish Wednesday’s downhill training session with the fastest time. Shiffrin’s big rival Petra Vlhova would have competed here but her Olympics ended prematurely due to an ankle injury. The biggest threat is likely to come from Switzerland’s combined specialist Michelle Gisin and Austria’s Wendy Holdener, who is a former double world champion in this event. The Italians are well represented here once again, with Federica Brignone looking to add to the giant slalom silver she won at the start of last week.
