Daughters of the Sea

“You have heard the story of Dylan the jealous sea god who took three daughters for his own; now we will tell our own tale.” Welsh legend speaks of Dylan the sea god, who envied an old man his three daughters, and called up a great storm to steal them away. Upon seeing their father’s heartbreak, Dylan regretted his actions and transformed the girls into gulls, belonging to both sea and land. In her directorial debut, choreographer Krystal Lowe rewrites the beloved folk tale, using movement to reimagine the daughters of the sea through a contemporary, feminist lens.
