Covid: What's the pandemic done to children's mental health?

The pandemic has exacerbated the mental health crisis and there's a call for emergency support for children around the world.

The disruption to global society has been immense these last few years because of Covid-19. It's well documented that it's seriously affected the children of the world - particularly when it comes to their mental health.

In the UK, there has been a 77 percent increase in the number of children needing specialist treatment for severe mental health. The global Covid-19 pandemic has exacerbated the mental health crisis in children, and we need a focused effort from policymakers, educators, and family support workers to address this brewing crisis.

Dr Anantha Duraiappah, director of the UNESCO Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Education for Peace and Sustainable Development in Delhi, outlines the major concerns that children are facing.
