With a new stage version of The McCooeys opening at the Grand Opera House Belfast, Marie-Louise Muir took the chance to dig into the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ archive.
When The McCooeys, the Belfast soap family, ran on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Service from 1949-1954 streets were empty at Saturday teatime when it was on air.
With a new stage version The McCooeys Live! opening at the Grand Opera House Belfast Marie-Louise Muir took the chance to dig into the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ archive for extracts from the episodes, a 1970 interview with Joseph Tomelty about his life and work and talking to his grand daughter Hannah Carnegie and director Michael Quinn.
