Lawyer for 9/11 families says Biden is right to seize Afghan reserves
President Biden has authorised the seizure of seven billion dollars in Afghan central bank assets -- earmarking half of it for possible payments to 9/11 victims, and the other half for humanitarian relief in Afghanistan. Andrew Maloney is a US lawyer representing around 150 relatives of those who were killed more than twenty years ago. He says the Afghan people should have done more to stop the Taliban and that using Afghan national assets to pay compensation is fair game.
