The Post Office Scandal: ‘Has anyone ever apologised to you?’

Lee Castleton was made bankrupt after he lost a two-year battle with the Post Office over shortfalls in his takings.

He bought a Post Office in Bridlington in 2003 and began trying to report the issues when he noticed them.

“I wanted the Post Office to come to my office and check why we were having these issues, clearly there was nothing to hide,” he said.

It has later been found that over 700 sub-postmasters were wrongly accused of theft, fraud and false accounting due to a flaw in a computer system.

The legal proceedings cost Lee the business and his property.

“My family were punished significantly, it was very difficult to watch,” he said.

Speaking to Rick Edwards on 5 Live Breakfast, Lee said no one had ever apologised to him, but it would only mean something to him if it meant something to them.
