How a 'super-resolution' microscope could help the fight against cancer
An advanced microscope which is powerful enough to see individual molecules could help in the fight against cancer, say researchers. ONI, which is a private initiative linked to Oxford University in the UK, has helped develop the microscope.
ONI's chief executive Bo Jing, explains what makes the microscope so significant when it comes to learning more about diseases like cancer. He says, "If you're able to pick up all the signals in the cells, that might give us very important clues about disease in the cell. Diagnostic companies would fare much better, and we would be able to develop therapeutics much more quickly".
