A former SAS soldier from Hereford has raised half a million pounds for charity by becoming the first person to row from America to the UK – without GPS!

Ian Rivers rowed the 3400 miles across the Atlantic Ocean on his own, battling Force 10 storms, a life-threatening capsize, concussion and broken ribs.

When he arrived in St Mary’s Harbour on the Isles of Scilly he set the world record for the first such solo crossing.

His efforts have helped to raise a massive £501,650 for the SAS Association’s Sentinel charity and St Michael’s Hospice in Herefordshire.

He told Elliott Webb that he’s already planning his next challenge!
