Could Ukraine/Russia conflict boost Middle East trade?

Russia’s military attack on Ukraine is already having impacts across the world - on stocks, shares, oil prices and currencies.

But there are also concerns it could affect energy and food supplies, and it could have lasting impacts on the EU’s and America’s standing in the Middle East and Africa.

Julien Barnes-Dacey is Director of the Middle East and North Africa programme at the think-tank, European Council on Foreign Relations. He says the conflict is presenting “a new degree of political leverage and financial resources to manoeuvre with”.
