Ukraine: 'There are air raids, shootings - we know the Russians are moving in'
Russian troops are reported to be closing in on Kyiv and the Ukrainian government has called on citizens to defend the city. President Zelensky has called on European citizens to protest and ask their governments to intervene to stop Russia's assault.
Lesia Vasylenko, a Ukrainian MP from the Holos Party (a pro-European party) and part of the opposition, describes the atmosphere in the city. She says there have been air raids and the sound of shooting, and that although Putin's plan is to take the city, the citizens are ready to defend it - she herself was given two guns yesterday and is prepared to use them to defend her family.
"We know troops are moving in and we know their plans are to take Kyiv down."
"We have given a lot of blood for our children to live in a free and independent Ukraine."
