Ukraine crisis: Refugees flee Ukraine but younger men must stay
Border crossings from Ukraine to Romania, Hungary and Poland are seeing thousands of people crossing as the conflict ramps up following Russia's invasion. UN agencies have said that war could drive five million citizens to flee abroad. The interior minister of Romania said over 10,000 people crossed into the country on Thursday through its six border checkpoints.
Razvan Lutac, a Romanian journalist with the Libertatea newspaper, has been travelling with some of them. He says that thousands have already arrived but that now only women, children and older men are being allowed to leave Ukraine. Younger men who could be conscripted to fight are being told they must remain.
