As hundreds of thousands flee the Russian advance in Ukraine, foreigners are also caught up in the exodus from the country.

Michael Blessed Olowuro is a finance student from Ondo in Nigeria who went to study in Ukraine. He's trying to make his way into Hungary but has been prevented from boarding trains to safety.

"They say only women and children but then you see Ukrainian guys getting on and then they just leave the Africans left behind." Having been at the border crossing, it has been "absolutely horrendous," he told Newsday.
