Ukraine: ‘The propaganda is stronger than any sense of compassion’
There have been some difficult and fraught conversations about the war in Ukraine - not just between nations but within families, not least where Ukrainians have relatives in neighbouring Russia. Whether physically or emotionally, many families have been divided by the war.
Freelance journalist Iryna Matviyishyn told Newsday she started noticing how many people were starting to post about this online.
"Ukrainians are hosting bitter conversations with their relatives in Russia. Their uncles, cousins, grandparents do not believe their loved ones hiding and crying in bomb shelters."
