Svyatoslav Vakarchuk is a former member of the Ukrainian parliament, and public activist. He is also the lead singer of the band Okean Elzy, which gained popularity throughout the 1990s, and still go on world tours.

The Ukrainian singer has been touring his country since the outbreak of war, posting updates, visiting wounded soldiers in hospital and delivering food and fuel to people in need. Just before leaving the town Dnipro, he spoke to Newsday saying, "We are crying to all the world to help us".
