Australia floods: People have 'water to their roofs'
The Australian prime minister Scott Morrison has declared a State of Emergency for the states of New South Wales and Queensland after weeks of non-stop rain and flooding which has caused chaos along the east coast.
Many livestock, homes and infrastructure have been ruined in both rural and urban areas, including Sydney, which have caused great panic across Australia as the economy is still recovering from extensive border closures due to the pandemic.
Newsday spoke to Isobel Roe, an ABC reporter who's been on the ground across the affected areas:
“Entire towns have lost their homes. People have ended up doing most of the [clean up] work themselves. There's not enough manpower to deal with the scale of this."
