Ukraine war: Kharkiv situation 'harder and harder'
Kharkiv has suffered nightly Russian airstrikes and shelling, with dozens of civilians killed and hundreds injured.
In the early days of the invasion, Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city and in eastern Ukraine, fought back a Russian armoured column. Since then, it has suffered nightly Russian airstrikes and shelling, with dozens of civilians killed and hundreds injured. The UN says civilians in Kharkiv, as well as Mariupol, Melitopol and elsewhere "desperately need aid, especially life-saving medical supplies".
A resident who is living on the 15th floor of a tower block at his parents' home says Russia's assault on the city is happening all around him, and that the situation is getting more and more difficult. Although they have supplies, he believes that the Russians are intent on destroying Kharkiv, and are targeting civilians and the city's infrastruture as well as military locations, despite their claims to the contrary.
"There is shelling and bombing. They are destroying the city. I'm doing my best to keep my loved ones safe."
