Sumy: Humanitarian corridors provide some relief
In the city of Sumy, in north-eastern Ukraine, they have been suffering from military attacks from Russian forces since the start of the war, mostly from shelling and air bombardments.
Although thousands of residents have left through humanitarian corridors, an unknown number of civilians remain in the city, encircled by Russian forces.
Humanitarian corridors have opened in the area but not everyone has been able to exit.
Newsday spoke to a resident, Nikolay Nazarov, who is a Professor of Political Science at Sumy State University.
