The southern city of Mariupol in Ukraine has been under constant attack from Russia for more than two weeks.
According to local authorities, more than 2,000 residents have been killed.
Anna Romaneko lives just outside Mariupol but both her parents are trapped inside the city. She says they have told her that “there is no water, food, heat or light” and that people are burning what remains of their homes to keep warm.
She sent ѿý Newsday this voice recording in which she says: “I never thought that in the 21st Century I would become a witness and victim of genocide.”
