Ukraine: 1.5 million child refugees, says UN

The total number of people who have fled Ukraine since the Russian invasion began has now passed three million - and half of them are children, says the United Nations.

Anastasia Pavlenko is a Ukrainian refugee from Cherkasy in central Ukraine. She spent over five days travelling overland to Germany with her children. She says the conflict has impacted her children physically and mentally and while she is grateful for refuge, she fears “this is not the end” of their ordeal. She explains why to ѿý Newsday.
