
Charlotte Mendelson: Why I decided to talk about my preventive mastectomy
Author Charlotte Mendelson opened up for the first time about her preventive mastectomy to Emma Barnett on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour this week.
Charlotte, who had only told close friends about what she went through aged 35 until now, revealed how her experience went into her new novel, The Exhibitionist. A character in the book, Lucia, also goes through the medical procedure.
The author said she wanted to speak out to raise awareness and help others who have gone through, or are about to go through a preventive mastectomy.
