Ukraine war ‘is going to destroy Russia’s future’

Grigory Yavlinsky is one of Russia's democratic opposition leaders and a former presidential candidate. He is a prominent proponent of economic reform who pushed Russian policymakers to implement market-friendly practices in the 1990s.

He is also a vocal critic of President Vladimir Putin. Despite the threat of fines and imprisonment for those Russians who criticise the war in Ukraine, Mr Yavlinsky tells ѿý Newsday that he is “staying in Russia and I’m going to stay in Russia because I have a million voters here and I can’t leave the country but from the point of view of security, everything can happen, every hour”.
