Russian lawmaker: ‘Russia will not give up on Ukraine’
Peace talks between Ukraine and Russia have so far yielded little respite. Earlier, US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said he did not see “any signs” that Vladimir Putin was “prepared to stop” the war in Ukraine.
Mikhail Matveyev is a Communist Party member of the Russian parliament, or the State Duma. He previously argued against the Kremlin’s military action in Ukraine but that was before Russia criminalised criticism of what it calls its “special operation”.
He tells ѿý Newsday that he does not see the conflict ending any time soon: “I see that sacrifices from both sides make both Russia and Ukraine want to continue with this conflict”.
