Harlan Coben: 'I can change more hearts and minds if I'm not political'
Best selling thriller author Harlan Coben spoke to 5 Live鈥檚 Nihal Arthanayake ahead of the release of his 33rd novel, The Match.
Nihal asked if it鈥檚 fair for fans to ask celebrities to stand for and support a social or political cause.
鈥淚 think that musicians have a platform, I don鈥檛 necessarily think that novelists do,鈥 Harlan said.
鈥淚f I come in overly moralizing or lecturing or any of that sort of thing, I lose whatever power I would have,鈥 he continued.
Harlan emphasizes that the 5-6 hours spent engrossed in a book is very different to a three minute song. 鈥淢usicians have been able to write songs, be it on the left or patriotic or whatever it is鈥or a novelist it鈥檚 a tremendous danger.鈥
