'I think all of us…were speechlessly shocked’
The British Ambassador to Ukraine, Melinda Simmons, held out in Ukraine until 7 March, 11 days after the Russian invasion began.
But she and her team then joined the women and children, blankets wrapped tightly around them, queueing to cross the border to Poland.
She joined Emma Barnett on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour to discuss the current situation in Ukraine, how long she thinks Ukraine can hold for, and if and when she thinks she’ll be able to return to the country.
You can listen to the full interview on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sounds, where you can also find any episodes of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour that you may have missed.
