Wildfire destroys acres of Mt Kenya forest moorland

Thousands of acres of moorland in the Marania section of Mount Kenya’s forest have been destroyed by fire.

The Kenya Forest Service has attributed a wildfire that has destroyed thousands of acres of forest moorland at Mount Kenya, to extreme weather conditions in the region.

Tigrayan rebel forces have agreed to an offer of a truce to allow aid delivery through, but an official from the Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) tells us promises by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed’s government must be upheld.
