In an extraordinary incident at the Oscar's ceremony, actor Will Smith walked up on stage and slapped the comedian Chris Rock in the face after making a joke about his wife.

The moment was censored on American television but appeared in the Japanese feed.

The drama resumed after Will Smith won the best actor award where he apologised during a tearful acceptance speech.

She told Newsday, "I think it became quite clear that it was a real moment, and not staged. We saw a lot of footage during moments of the show, where people were gathering around Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith during segments, I guess to give them some words of support".
