
Youngsters in Finland worry war could spread
News coverage of the war in Ukraine has created uncertainty and fear in many children around the world.
Although there is no immediate threat from Russia, some young people in Finland are concerned about their own safety, asking if the war could spread to Finland.
Russia and Finland share a 1,300 kilometre-long land border. Geographical proximity and the fact that Finland is not a member of Nato has increased anxiety for some.
In Finland’s biggest school, Ritaharju, with 1,500 pupils aged 7 to 16, in the city of Oulu, teachers have open and honest conversations with children to help them cope with mental health challenges.
