‘If healthcare workers have to be tested for other infections, we don’t expect them to pay’
NHS staff are still waiting for an announcement from the government to determine whether they will be required to pay for lateral flow tests. Free testing ends in England on 1 April. Staff are required to test twice a week to prevent the spread of coronavirus, and could face bills of up to £50 a month.
Rose Gallagher, who leads on infection prevention and control for the Royal College of Nursing, joined Emma Barnett on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour to explain why they are calling for the government to pay for covid tests for NHS staff.
