EU Commissioner: Energy sanctions still possible
The EU Commissioner for Financial Services, Mairead McGuinness, has said sanctions on Russian energy are still on the table.
鈥淲e are over reliant on Russian oil and gas, we plan to reduce significantly that dependency and that takes time,鈥� Ms McGuinness told Hardtalk鈥檚 Stephen Sackur. 鈥淏ut we鈥檝e also said that everything remains on the table.鈥�
The key was to make sure that energy sanctions would impact Russia and not 鈥渂oomerang鈥� and a have negative impact on the European economy or cause global consequences, she said.
