'Almost entire global population' breathing poor-quality air

Almost the entire global population is breathing air that is worse than the acceptable standard of air quality. That's according to a new report from the World Health Organization (WHO).

The findings have prompted WHO to highlight again the importance of curbing fossil fuel use and taking other tangible steps to reduce air pollution levels.

Susan Anenberg, Director of the George Washington University Climate & Health Institute, explained the new findings.

She said: "It really does mean that nearly everyone, on the face of the planet, is breathing air that is unsafe for us".
