Ex-president sentenced to life over Sankara murder

Mr Sankara, a Marxist revolutionary, was gunned down by a group of armed men in Burkina Faso in 1987.

A military tribunal in Burkina Faso has sentenced former President Blaise Compaore, in his absence, to life imprisonment for complicity in the 1987 murder of his predecessor, Thomas Sankara.
