Ukraine: Russian troops head east and south
Russia is expected to launch a full-scale military offensive in the east and south of Ukraine within days.
Christo Grozev is a journalist and executive director of Bellingcat, an independent international collective of researchers, investigators and citizen journalists. He tells Newsday that Russia is sending new military units and regrouping those who have been fighting elsewhere in Ukraine.
He says: “There are clear signs of focus on the east and south… There [seems to be] a plan to take cities in full, with no consideration for civilian casualties… we will see more and more entrenched fighting.”
