Cracking down on ghost guns in US
US President Joe Biden has announced a new rule that would make it illegal for businesses to sell kits that can be used to create a gun at home without serial numbers. It also bans licensed gun dealers from selling them without a background check.
The gun lobby considers the measure “extreme” but Mr Biden insists it is “basic common sense”.
Mike Song from Washington DC has been an activist on gun violence since his son, Ethan, was
killed in an accidental shooting. He was at The Whitehouse for the announcement. He tells Newsday that ghost guns invite “disaster, tragedy, heartbreak” and “represent a plague… crimes can be committed with very little forensic evidence that you could trace back to the shooter”.
