Brooklyn shooting: How is New York's subway policed?

A shooting occurred on Tuesday morning at a subway station in New York City during rush hour. More than 20 people were injured. New York mayor, Eric Adams, assured reporters that the perpetrator would be brought to justice.

Jillian Snider is a retired NYPD officer, and now serves as a Policy Director of Criminal Justice at the R Street Institute, and is an Adjunct Lecturer at John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

She says that there are six to eight thousand police officers dedicated to policing the subway, but with many track miles to cover, "That's just so much area to cover, so I couldn't speculate and say more training would have prevented something like this, because I don't think that's the case".
