South Africa floods: ‘Now it’s time to start normalising’
The rains have subsided but rescue operations are continuing in South Africa in an effort to save the lives of dozens of people who are still missing following the floods in KwaZulu-Natal province.
Imtiaz Syed is Chairperson of eThekwini Outreach and the President of the Active Citizens Coalition, which is helping with the disaster relief effort. He tells Newsday in some parts “it’s like kind of a warzone” but “now it’s time to start normalising”.
