Dijon - in the east of France - is a region where attitudes and voting habits diverge between the city and the countryside. Macron polls better in urban areas; Le Pen in rural ones.
But there is one thing that unites the French at this election – concern about the spiralling cost of living.
Newshour's James Coomarasamy has been trying to find out what that could mean for these two candidates who are now quite well-engrained in the French political consciousness. His quest began on a small family farm in the village of Barjon.
