Will Elon Musk change Twitter?

The board of Twitter has agreed to a $44bn (£34.5bn) takeover offer from the billionaire Elon Musk, and he has said he wants to reduce censorship on the platform. After the news of the deal was announced, human rights groups raised concerns about hate speech on Twitter and the power it would give Musk, who is a self-described "free speech absolutist".

Washington Post opinion columnist Megan McArdle believes that Elon Musk won't want to jeopardise the platform's profitability, and the day-to-day decisions on what happens on the platform will still be made by Twitter employees. She says that advertisers and users would turn away from the platform if it was unmoderated, and that Musk's core responsibilities lie elsewhere - with SpaceX and Tesla.
