India: Record-breaking heatwave comes early
India's record-breaking heatwave is continuing in parts of the country, with some places seeing temperatures hit 50 degrees Celsius over the weekend. The concern is not only that the temperature has been so high, but that this is happening so early in the year. Crops have been affected and heat-related hospital admissions have increased.
Dr Chandni Singh, an environmental social scientist told us what it's been like, being in India this past week.
She says, "these kind of heatwaves are going to become more intense, they're going to come sooner and then they're going to be longer in their duration."
