Who invented heavy metal music? The list of those cited as inventing rock music's sub genre includes iconic musicians Jimi Hendrix, and Jimmy Page of Led Zeppelin.

But could it be the guitarist for the British group, The Kinks? Newsday has been investigating whether the band’s guitarist Dave Davies played the musical genre’s inaugural rift on their big hit of 1964.
