US baby formula crisis 'spirals' as shortage worsens
Major US pharmacies have restricted sales of baby formula in response to a worsening shortage.
CVS and Walgreens are among the big chains to have imposed limits in recent weeks on how many cans customers can buy at a time.
The shortages intensified after Abbott - which makes top brand Similac - shut a key factory and issued a recall in February after finding contamination.
The shortage has been building since last year due to supply chain and other factors. The situation deteriorated further last month, as publicity of the problem grew and parents raced to stock up.
Lindsay Gill, a mother of three who runs the Napkin Network - a grassroots collective helping mothers in need in Washington D.C. - explains the effect of the shortages and the problems people were experiencing in sourcing supplies.
