A colonel in the Iranian Revolutionary Guards was shot dead on Sunday in Tehran.

Two people on a motorcycle are reported to have fired at Colonel Sayad Khodai in his car outside his home in the Iranian capital.

So far, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack and a hunt is under way for the gunmen.

There have been a string of assassinations of Iranian officials over the past decade, largely linked to the country's nuclear programme.
