Colombia election: Ex-rebel and businessman face runoff
The dramatic outcome of the first round of the presidential election in Colombia sets the stage for big political change in the country.
David Adler is a political economist with the Progressive International think tank. He tells Newsday why he considers the forthcoming face-off 鈥渁n earthquake election鈥�.
He says 鈥淧eace and life are the big two main components of Petro鈥檚 programme鈥� while Mr Hern谩ndez鈥檚 鈥減resentation is flashy鈥ick-tock based鈥he content of his politics are very, very scary. This is a guy who says women have no place in politics鈥�.
