Lithuanians raise over $5m to buy drone for Ukraine
Citizens of Lithuania have donated over $5m dollars to buy an aerial combat drone for the Ukrainian army.
The private crowdfunding initiative, led by Lithuanian TV journalist Andrius Tapinas, got the green light from both Lithuanian and Turkish defence ministries.
“It wasn’t big businessmen or oligarchs who came to the rescue just all the simple people – the teachers, the nurses, the senior houses even chipped in. I’ve got stories from kids who asked their parents to transfer their birthday money in order to buy a drone for Ukraine,” Mr Tapinas told Newsday.
