Who is to blame for Europe’s dependency on Russian oil and gas?
As EU leaders debate whether there should be a ban on Russian oil and gas imports, Edgars Rinkēvičs, Foreign Minister of Latvia, shares his thoughts.
He tells Newsday: “What we are seeing is actually a decades long blunders of EU and member states’ energy policies. We are getting more and more reliant on Russian gas and oil and definitely it is very difficult to stop it immediately.”
However, he says there “is a willingness for structural change” but that will come “with a cost and requires some time”.
