Award-winning actor Christopher Eccleston says he feels like a 鈥渇ailure鈥� for not capitalising on the opportunities he had earlier in his career.

He told 5 Live鈥檚 Nihal Arthanayake that he 鈥渇ell short鈥� with two of his performances from the 90s: 鈥楯ude the Obscure鈥� and Derek from 鈥楲et Him Have It鈥�.

鈥淭hose were my chances to have far more influence and far more control over the kind of stuff I did, [...] I'd always take the jobs my heart told me to."

But turning to the future, he said "I'm not finished yet...I believe I'm a much better actor now than I was in my 20s, as I should be because I've been learning on the job."
