Christopher Eccleston: ‘I feel like a failure’
Award-winning actor Christopher Eccleston says he feels like a “failure” for not capitalising on the opportunities he had earlier in his career.
He told 5 Live’s Nihal Arthanayake that he “fell short” with two of his performances from the 90s: ‘Jude the Obscure’ and Derek from ‘Let Him Have It’.
“Those were my chances to have far more influence and far more control over the kind of stuff I did, [...] I'd always take the jobs my heart told me to."
But turning to the future, he said "I'm not finished yet...I believe I'm a much better actor now than I was in my 20s, as I should be because I've been learning on the job."
