Electronically tagging migrants will cause 'unnecessary suffering'
The British government is to trial a scheme that allows some migrants who cross the Channel in small boats to be electronically tagged. The interior ministry says the electronic monitoring will help maintain contact with asylum claimants who have reached Britain by what officials have termed dangerous routes. Zarlasht Halaimzai came to the UK from Afghanistan as a child in the 1990s. She now runs an organisation called Amna which helps refugees overcome trauma. What does she think of the idea of tagging asylum seekers?
